Easter is just around the corner! We only have a little more than a week left before we celebrate a wonderful holiday with some of the best traditions of the year! Now, we all have our traditions that we HAVE to do every year. Some of these traditions have been passed down for generations. Some have evolved and changed over time, but the focus is always the same: to make fond memories and strengthen family bonds. As families grow and children get older, it is always fun to try new things or start new traditions of our own. If you would like to start a new tradition, or just want to mix things up a bit this year, here are some great new Easter ideas you can try!
Easter Scavenger Hunt
We all know how much the children love the Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday! It is something they look forward to every year. In fact, as we get older, we all probably wish we could still participate in that Easter egg hunt with the little ones! One idea that can fulfill this desire is an Easter scavenger hunt! Give party guests a list of clues and hints that will help guide them around to find different Easter items. You could also give one clue that leads to an Easter egg, which contains another clue inside, and so on and so forth, ultimately leading them to some great Easter prize. Get creative! This can be done just in your own home or around your neighborhood. Whatever you come up with, this is a great tradition that will give the teens and adults that same rush they used to get from the Easter egg hunt!
Not everyone one loves peeps, but everyone loves s’mores! After all, peeps are just colorful marshmallows! Put those peeps to good use by sitting around a fire pit and making some peeps s’mores! This is a great way to round out the night after a wonderful Easter Sunday.
Necktie Easter Eggs, AKA “Tie-Dye” Eggs
Need a way to put Dad’s old neckties to good use? Use them to make Easter eggs! You can actually use silk neckties to decorate Easter eggs! All you have to do is follow these steps to create some of the most beautiful Easter eggs you will ever see!
- Cut out a square section, large enough to cover the egg, of a 100% silk necktie.
- Wrap the egg with the printed side of the fabric touching the egg and tie off with twist ties or a rubber band.
- Wrap again with a light weight, white material and tie off again.
- Boil eggs with water and a little white wine vinegar in stainless stainless steal, ceramic, or glass pot.
- Apply a little vegetable to the outside of the eggs to make them shiny and to get the colors to pop.

Easter Egg Scriptures
It can be really hard to help little kids capture the true meaning of Easter. One way you can do this is through Easter egg scriptures. The basic idea is to have the kids open several different Easter eggs with special items inside of them. Each item is symbolic of something from the Easter story. Have the kids open an egg, and then read the scripture associated with the special item inside. The eggs should be opened chronologically based on how the items match up with the story. For example, you could start with an egg that has a little cup inside and read Matt 26:39 about how the Lord asked if the cup could pass from Him. The last egg should be empty, symbolizing that the tomb is empty and the Lord is risen.
